The Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library invites Author, Timothy Hollister to Kennebunkport on Sunday, October 22nd at 2:00 p.m.

Tim Hollister, a resident of West Hartford, Connecticut, lost his 17-year-old son Reid in a one-car crash on an interstate highway in central Connecticut in 2006.  After Reid’s passing, Tim became an advocate for safer teen driving, serving during 2007-08 on a task force that overhauled Connecticut’s teen driver laws, and then in 2009, launching his national blog for parents of teen drivers, “From Reid’s Dad.” For his advocacy, in 2010, Tim received the nation’s highest civilian award for traffic safety, from the U.S. Department of Transportation. In 2013, Tim published Not So Fast: Parenting Your Teen Through the Dangers of Driving (Chicago Review Press), for which Tim received national awards from the Governors Highway Safety Association and the National Safety Council, and appeared on the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley, and the “Home and Family Show” on the Hallmark Channel. In 2015, Tim published His Father Still: A Parenting Memoir, his candid story of parenting his rambunctious son, and a cautionary tale for all parents about the challenge of balancing freedom and protection.  His Father Still was an Oprah Book Club Recommended Summer Reading selection in July 2016, and has been featured in Publishers Weekly.  Most recently, Tim’s teen driving book Not So Fast has been published in Spanish and featured in a You Tube video sponsored by The Travelers insurance company.  A second edition of Not So Fast will be published in March 2018. Most recently, in return for a donation to Reid’s Memorial Fund, Tim is acting as a national spokesperson for Verizon, promoting the use of its teen driver vehicle monitoring technology, called Hum by Verizon. In his spare time, Tim is an environmental attorney, ranked among the Best Lawyers in America.
