September 25, 2016 @ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

The Pasco Lecture Series welcomes Lyn Smith and Jamie Hogan to present their new book – due out in mid-September, a Porcupine’s Promenade, on Sunday, September 25th at 2:00 pm.

Lyn Smith holds Master’s Degrees in elementary education from the University of Hartford and in literacy education from the University of Southern Maine along with a certificate of advanced studies in reading. She began her career as a kindergarten teacher and has since worked as an educational administrator, adjunct faculty member at York County Community College, and provided professional instruction as a Literacy Coach in Portland, Maine. She is currently an Instructional Strategist/Reading Specialist at Kennebunk Elementary School. Lyn is a member of several professional organizations: Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI); Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance (MWPA);  and the Reading Recovery Council of North America (RRCNA).  Natural discoveries happen frequently in the backyard of her southern Maine home which is 3 miles from the beach.. Lyn divides her time between trail walks in the nearby nature preserves while thinking like a historian as she combs the beaches collecting ancient pieces of sea glass treasures stirred up by the tides.
Jamie Hogan grew up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and earned a BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design.  Her illustrations have appeared in American Illustration, PRINT Magazine,Graphis, and the Society of Illustrators, as well as publications from the Los Angeles Times to Maine Magazine.  Since 2003, Jamie has taught Illustration at Maine College of Art in Portland.  She is the author and illustrator of The Seven Days of Daisy, the illustrator of many award-winning children’s books, and the creator of interior art and jacket illustrations for many adult titles.  Jamie is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance.  After chapters in Boston and San Francisco, she now lives on Peaks Island with her husband/superhero/illustrator/designer, Marty Braun, and their daughter Daisy.   Jamie draws inspiration from moonlight, reflections, pink clouds, wishing on the first star, and the raw beauty that is Maine.
The Pasco Lecture Series is supported by the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation, Kennebunk Savings Bank, and the Graves Library Snack Team.
