CHILDREN’S BOOK LOOK

Please tune in on Thursday, May 20 @ 10:00 am to this pre-recorded program with Miss Terri as she answers your letters and email questions to suggest books, articles, and movies on a special topic.  She will have lots of recommendations for children of all ages.  This session will be posted on our Facebook, YouTube, and local television network.

PASCO LECTURE SERIES – MAINE AUTHOR BRUCE ROBERT COFFIN

We are thrilled to welcome to Graves Library, Maine Author, Bruce Robert Coffin to talk about his new book  on Sunday, May 23 at 2:00 pm.   Mr. Coffin will be interviewed by local bookshop owner Kristen Kuehnle before an audience of none.  Signed copies of his latest book, Within Plain Sight, will be available for sale starting Monday May 10 here at the Library.  To order yours, please send us an email (ml@graves.lib.me.us) or call (967-2778).  This program will be available for viewing on Facebook (facebook.com/GravesLibrary), YouTube (youtube.com – Search Graves Memorial Public Library), and Kennebunkport local access television.

 

Bruce Robert Coffin is the award-winning author of the bestselling Detective Byron mystery series. A former detective sergeant with more than twenty-seven years in law enforcement, he supervised all homicide and violent crime investigations for Maine’s largest city. Following the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, Bruce spent four years investigating counter-terrorism cases for the FBI, earning the Director’s Award, the highest award a non-agent can receive.

His novel, Beyond the Truth, winner of Killer Nashville’s Silver Falchion Award for Best Procedural, was a finalist for the Agatha Award for Best Contemporary Novel and a finalist for the Maine Literary Award for Best Crime Fiction. His short fiction appears in several anthologies, including Best American Mystery Stories 2016.

Bruce is a member of International Thriller Writers, Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance. He is a regular contributor to Murder Books blogs.

Bruce is represented by Paula Munier at Talcott Notch Literary.  He lives and writes in Maine.

 

 

EVENING BOOK GROUP – via – ZOOM (or Outside)

The Evening Book Group usually meets the last Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m.   This month, the group will meet on May 27 at 6:00 pm.  If you would like to participate in our meeting via Zoom, please call the Library (207-967-2778) or email ml@graves.lib.me.us  to be added to the invitation list.  If the weather is perfect, we will consider meeting outside of the Library in the garden.

A link will be sent to all participants early in the day to access the meeting.  We will be discussing Mill Town : Reckoning with What Remains by Kerri Arsenault.

KERRI ARSENAULT is the Book Review Editor at Orion magazine, and Contributing Editor at Lithub. Arsenault received her MFA in Creative Writing from The New School and studied in Malmö University’s Communication for Development master’s programme. Her writing has appeared in Freeman’sLithub, Oprah.com, and The Minneapolis Star Tribune, among other publications. She lives in New England. Mill Town is her first book.

WINE ON-LINE WITH MAINE & VINE

Join us on Thursday, May 20 @ 5:30 pm for a fun hour of tasting, information, and trivia. Local wine gurus, Lani Dietz and Betsy Ross, will guide us through the program with ideas, pairings, and educational tidbits as we sip wines selected by our two experts. This will be a Zoom presentation moderated by Mary-Lou Boucouvalas at Graves Library.
For anyone new to this very popular monthly event, Lani and Betsy choose the pair prior to the event.  Each time, we “experience” wines from a specific country or new varietal.  All participants are encouraged to purchase wine at Maine & Vine in Lower Village, Kennebunk.
Please call the Library (967-2778) to register by Wednesday, May 19 so that we can send you the Zoom link on the day of the event.  We would love to see you!  And you don’t have to worry about driving!
