A MATTER OF BALANCE WORKSHOPS – POSTPONED UNTIL FALL

Southern Maine Agency on Aging and York Hospital present a Matter of Balance Workshops here at the Graves Library beginning on Thursday, March 19 and ending May 14 from 10:15 am to 12:15 pm.  This eight week workshop is meant to help older adults identify balance and strength concerns, to empower seniors to promote active independence through awareness of risks, and to share resources related to fall prevention for them and their families. BALANCE AND STRENGTH SCREENING

Southern Maine Agency on Aging and York Hospital present a Balance and Strength Screening Session here at the Graves Library on Thursday, March 12 from 10:15 am to 12:15 pm.  At this free screening event you will have the opportunity to learn about different risk factors such as balance, blood pressure, and medications that may contribute to your chance of falling.  For questions or to RSVP, please contact the Southern Maine Agency on Aging at (207) 396-6578.

SPECIAL STORYTIME

Please join Miss Terri and Miss Stephanie for a special visit with guest reader Tiffany from the Daily Sweat.  Ms. Tiffany will read stories, sing songs, and show us some awesome yoga moves.   No registration is required.  This program is designed for children 5 and younger, however, all ages are welcome.  Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate.

EVENING BOOK GROUP

The Evening Book Group meets the last Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m.  Please join us in the Business Center (First Floor–Side Door).  No registration required (967-2778) and new members are always welcome.   The February pick will be The Great Alone by Kristen Hannah.

ART TO HEAL WORKSHOPS

Art to Heal Workshops are designed for Cancer survivors and their caregivers.  There is no charge for these classes and no experience is necessary.  Limited seats are available so please call the Library to sign up (967-2778).  All supplies will be provided.  These worshops are being led by local artist and author, Ms. Barri Kramer.

March 25.  Memory Bracelets.  For the first class, the group will be making memory bracelets.  Learn to make polymer beads with patterns.  Something wonderful to wear and share!

April 15 – Chinese Calligraphy.  Practice the art of Chinese characters with Sumi ink and beautiful brushes.  Learn to write words and discover their origin and meaning.  You will simply be amazed at how easy this can be.

May t/b/a – Quilt Block Boxes – Worth with beautiful fabrics to make a Quilt Block Box that will hold your small treasures.  Choose your palette and learn how to construct something that you will be happy to look at every day (and be useful!).

AN AFTERNOON @ THE MOVIES!

Join us on Tuesday, February 18 @ 1:00 pm for an  Afternoon At The Movies!  Downton Abbey (2019) will be shown in the Community Room.  Join us and get reacquaintedwith your old friends from the Masterful Masterpiece PBS series.

DRAGON TEA PARTY

Please join us for A Dragon Tea Party on Wednesday, February 19 at 1:00 pm.  Dragon stories, crafts, treats–Everything Dragon!  All ages are welcome but children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult.  Pre-Registration is a must as space is limited.  Sign up at the Library or call 967-2778.   Help us celebrate February Vacation with our dragon friends!

 

SILHOUETTES – CRAFT PROGRAM

CALLING ALL CRAFTERS!

Sign up to make a special Silhouette craft on Thursday, February 13 @ 3:30 pm.

We will show you how to create art using pastels and hand-cut silhouettes.  All supplies will be provided.  All ages are welcome to attend.

DO YOU LIKE TO SKETCH, PAINT, AND/OR DOODLE?  Join others and find a spot at the Library to sketch something.  Discussion and refreshments will follow.  No registration required.  Please bring your own supplies.  This is not an instructional class…but rather a place to gather and create and discuss something new.
