LIBRARY OPENING…..JUNE 29 AT 10:00 AM
June 29, 2020 @ 10:00 AM
When next you visit the Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library located at 18 Maine Street, Kennebunkport, pretend you are living in the year 1920. Until we can get back to our customary way of operation, the Library will be offering all of the services it did when it opened 100 years ago. It will offer books, newspapers, magazines, movies, and audio files. If will offer reference services and readers advisory. It will offer a mimeograph machine (a/k/a photocopier), notary services, and expanded outdoor seating area to picnic with family and friends.
Starting June 29 at 10:00 am, the Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library will open its doors to the public after being closed for 3.5 months. Hours will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 to 4:00; Saturday 9:30 to 12:00. Services will be limited to checking out books, movies, and other materials. No computer usage or bathrooms will be available until further notice. All programs have been moved to Face Book or Zoom Format for the summer. Children’s Reading Program is available. Summer packets will be given out (curbside) to any child joining. Please check out our website (www.graveslibrary.org) and our weekly newsletter (sign up via email) for information on events and special pop-ups. Due to the size of public space, only 10 people will be allowed in the building at a time. Outdoor Wi-Fi and seating is available at all times.
This is not the way we envisioned our summer. It is not the way we designed our space. It goes against everything we stand for as public librarians. However, it is more important to keep our patrons, visitors and staff healthy and safe. We promise to add materials you will want to check out, keep our space clean, and our staff available to assist your needs. We appreciate your patience and support as we muddle through this pandemic together.
