Book Groups


Morning Book Discussion Group

This group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 9:45 am. Book genres vary and a schedule of upcoming books to be discussed is available at the Main Circulation Desk in the library. Copies of each month’s book are available by reservation/request. New members are always welcome!

February – Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara      A novel about the battle of Gettysburg in the American Civil War.

March – The Double Helix, by James D. Watson     A personal account of the discovery and structure of DNA.

April – The Signature of All Things, by Elizabeth Gilbert     A novel spanning much of the 18th and 19th Centuries, in which a young botanist falls in love with an artist, their lives driven by themes of ambition, desire and a thirst for knowledge.

May – Black Cake, by Charmaine Wilkerson     An extraordinary journey through the life of a family changed forever by the choices of its matriarch.

June – The Scapegoat, by Daphne Du Maurier     A novel of switched identities, life and secrets, on a French estate following WWII.

July – Honor, by Thrity Umrigar     A novel dealing on a very personal level with India’s brutal practice of ‘honor killings’.

 

Evening Book Discussion Group

This group meets on the last Thursday of each month at 5:00 pm. Book genres vary and a schedule of upcoming books to be discussed is available at the Main Circulation Desk in the library. Copies of each month’s book are available by reservation/request. New members are always welcome!

Your Health Matters Book Group

Please join us and the RNs from the Kennebunkport Public Health Department, Alison Kenneway and Kim Noble, to identify ways to make healthier choices and improve overall well-being. Please call the Library to get on the list (207) 967-2778. Even if you are not able to read the book before the discussion, please feel free to join us and learn more about this month’s topic. Help set the course for a healthy and safer you!

Middle Grade Book Group – The Pageturners

The Pageturners, a Middle Grade book group, is a Graves Library and Kennebunk Free Library program. Books are available at both libraries. Please call either library for more information and to pre-register.
