Join your neighbors and attend “Stop the Bleed” here at the Library.  Kennebunkport Public Health and Kennebunkport Emergency Management are happy to offer this free class to you on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 6:00 to 8.00 pm. This hands-on training focuses on actions citizens can take in life threatening situations before first responders arrive.

The training covers a number of key areas including how citizens can effectively communicate with 9-1-1 operators, stay safe in a dangerous situation, stop life-threatening bleeding, position the injured, Hands Only CPR, provide emotional support and more. With these basic skills, citizens can play a part in being a part of the solution during an emergency. At any emergency scene, especially before first responders arrive, we want citizens to be very aware of their safety. This training will teach citizens to have situational awareness if they are trying to help others and how to keep themselves safe until help arrives. The program, Until Help Arrives, is a partnership between the Kennebunkport Emergency Management, Kennebunkport Public Health and Graves Library based on a national curriculum developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the US Department of Health and Human Services. The program is free and advanced registration is requested.
