AVOIDING ISOLATION – JUNE 29 @ 9:30 AM

 

Did you know that the Kennebunkport Health Department is celebrating its 75th year in service to the community?  As part of the celebration, they are hosting monthly discussions held here at Graves Library.  For the June 29 session, Officer Candice Simeoni (head of elder crimes at the Kennebunk Police Department), Detective Cory Tardif (Kennebunkport Police Department) and a YCEATF member will talk about resources in our community for staying engaged and active to avoid isolation. Light refreshments will be served.

COGNITIVE DECLINE – MAY 25 @ 9:30 AM

 

Did you know that the Kennebunkport Health Department is celebrating its 75th year in service to the community?  As part of the celebration, they are hosting monthly discussions held here at Graves Library.  For the May 25th session, Officer Candice Simeoni (head of elder crimes at the Kennebunk Police Department), Detective Cory Tardif (Kennebunkport Police Department) and Adam Hartwigs (York County Public Health Liaison for the Maine CDC) will talk about what cognitive decline means and why this impairment is a risk factor for victimization.  This session will also introduce ways to help family members with cognitive impairment and recognize the responsibilities of the caregivers.  Light refreshments will be served.

FINANCIAL CRIMES – APRIL 27 @ 9:30 AM

Did you know that the Kennebunkport Health Department is celebrating its 75th year in service to the community?  As part of the celebration, they are hosting monthly discussions held here at Graves Library.  For the April 27th session, Officer Candice Simeoni (head of elder crimes at the Kennebunk Police Deparment), Detective Cory Tardif (Kennebunkport Police Department) and a YCEATF member from Kennebunk Savings Bank will be at the Library to help arm you with the right tools to prevent these crimes from happening to you!  Light refreshments will be served.

STOP THE SCAMMERS – CYBER SCAMMERS (TAKE 2!)

In celebration of the Public Health Office turning 75 this year, we are teaming up with the nurses to offer monthly discussions on a variety of topics.  For the February 23 session, Candice Simeoni (head of elder crimes) will be here in person to talk about the tips and tricks of cyber scammers (take 2!).  Please call to register for this event as space will be limited (per CoVid guidelines).  We will also offer a Zoom link for those who cannot physically make it to the Library.

Don’t get sucked into this dreadful web of deceit and tomfoolery that is serious business.

Officer Simeoni is an instructor at the Maine Criminal Justice  Academy teaching cadets Elder Crime Investigations and presents around the State of Maine on Older Adult Exploitation.
She has been a law enforcement officer since 2004 and has been featured in many media outlets about the work she is doing in support of our aging nation. Officer Candice Simeoni
has worked on many Elder Exploitation cases, some of which, she will share with you through in hopes to share knowledge so that you or those you know do not fall victim to exploitation
happening right here in our communities. Officer Simeoni will share common scams in the area, talk about the most common perpetrators of Elder Abuse, talk about the York County Elder
Abuse Task Force she founded in 2005 and empower you with ways to help protect yourselves.
