For one night a month, the Library’s Community Room will transform into a movie theater. Meet up with your friends, snack on some popcorn, and enjoy a FREE night out at the movies!  For the month of December, we will be watching a holiday film. Join us for a great night of theater, snacks, and friends.

The Graves Library’s monthly movie night is back by popular demand! For one night a month, the Library’s Community Room will transform into a movie theater. Meet up with your friends, snack on some popcorn, and enjoy a FREE night out at the movies!

At the September movie night on Thursday, September 22nd, we will be screening Belfast (2021).

“Belfast, 15 August 1969. Surrounded by sporadic violence and growing danger, nine-year-old Buddy finds himself confronted with the ugly reality of sectarian conflict. And, as the suffocating stranglehold of increasing turmoil tightens around his once-peaceful working-class neighborhood, Buddy tries his best to understand The Troubles–after all, someone must be responsible for forcing people to flee their homes. Now, Buddy’s family must come face to face with a nearly impossible, life-altering decision: stay or start packing?” [Nick Riganas, IMDb].

Please join us on March 19 @ 6:45 pm for a special showing of Green Book.  Dr. Don Shirley is a world-class African-American pianist, who is about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962.  In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip, a tough-talking bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx.

MONTHLY MOVIE NIGHT @ GRAVES LIBRARY

Please join us on Thursday, February 20 @ 6:45 pm for a special showing of The Woman in Gold.  Sixty years after fleeing Vienna, Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren), an elderly Jewish woman, attempts to reclaim family possessions that were seized by the Nazis. Among them is a famous portrait of Maria’s beloved Aunt Adele: Gustave Klimt’s “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I.” With the help of young lawyer Randy Schoeberg (Ryan Reynolds), Maria embarks upon a lengthy legal battle to recover this painting and several others, but it will not be easy, for Austria considers them national treasures.  (IMBd, 2015).

There’s a new Movie Theater in town and the price is right–Free!  Graves Library offers  – Movie Night – once per month.

Please join us on Thursday, December 19 @ 6:45 pm for a special showing of Meet Me In St. Louis.  “Meet Me in St. Louis” is a classic MGM romantic musical comedy that focuses on four sisters (one of whom is the nonpareil Judy Garland) on the cusp of the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair. The film spotlights the sisters’ education in the ways of the world, which includes, but isn’t limited to, learning about life and love, courtesy of the prototypical boy next door. In the end, love — accompanied by song, dance and period costumes, all in glorious Technicolor — conquers all.

Please join us on Thursday, November 21 @ 6:45 pm for a special showing of The World’s Fastest Indian.  New Zealander Burt Munro (Sir Anthony Hopkins) spent years perfecting his classic Indian motorcycle. The year is 1967, and Burt takes his machine to Utah’s salt flats, where he attempts the impossible, using his dream bike to set a new world’s record for speed. Based on a true story, the record Munro set more than three decades ago still has not been broken to this day.

Young Frankenstein is a 1974 American comedy horror film directed by Mel Brooks and starring Gene Wilder as the title character, a descendant of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein, and Peter Boyle as the monster. .
