We are pleased to offer an original oil painting to be raffled off early September, 2024.  This 26 x 26 oil on canvas entitled “July Forever” is the creation of New England artist Ellen Granter. It is surrounded by a handmade maple float frame with mahogany splines by Bill Stearns.

Information about the Artist:

Ellen grew up in upstate New York. She received a BA in Political Science and a Masters in Chinese History from the University of Vermont. She studied Mandarin Chinese at Middlebury College, and lived in both Hong Kong and Beijing. She worked in the Boston area as a technical illustrator for biotech, then as a graphic designer for educational publishing. She was accepted into the Copley Society of Art in 2003, and was awarded the John Singleton Copley Award in 2008, and the distinction of Copley Master in 2009. Her artwork is shown in galleries throughout the U.S. and is held in many private and corporate collections. Her mother, Janet Welch, first came to Goose Rocks Beach when she was in High School, as a summer companion for a friend of her mother’s. This began a love affair with the beach, and her parents have been joyously gathering their family there since the mid 1960’s.
