Meet the Experts

SPACE LAWYER Anne Cortez – CEO Washington Federal Strategies

Ms. Cortez holds degrees from Princeton and Boston Universities. Anne guides defense contractors, startups, universities, researchers, and entrepreneurs through federal and international regulatory challenges spanning satellite launches, GPS spectrum use, UAV licensing, radar research, advanced data links, and NASA-related projects.

SPACE MAN Terry Shahata, Ph. D. – Executive Director of the Maine Space Corporation

Former Executive Director of the Maine Space Grant Consortium, Dr. Shehata is a leader behind the Maine Space Complex concept to engage Maine in the new space economy, and the legislatively created Maine Space Corporation to manage the development and growth of the complex.

ROCKET SCIENTIST Pete Warren, Ph. D. – Physical Sciences Executive Vice President, Material Systems

Dr. Warren holds degrees in Aerospace Engineering from both MIT and the University of Colorado. Pete leads the Materials Division, which includes advanced technologies for rocket propulsion, novel manufacturing methods, advanced material coatings, high temperature composites, antennas, and unfolding structures.

FUNDAMENTALS OF ESTATE PLANNING – FEBRUARY 25 @ 5:30 PM

This workshop is perfect for anyone seeking the peace of mind that comes with an estate plan but unsure where to begin. Attorney Erin Sherman, founder of Treehouse Legal in Kennebunk, will walk you through the essential components of an estate plan, such as what documents are typically included, how to address the needs of both minor and adult children and the key differences between a Will and a Trust. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer understanding of which estate planning tools are best suited to your family’s needs, as well as resources to help you take the next steps. A Q&A portion will be available at the end of the session to address your specific questions.

Erin Sherman is the founder of Treehouse Legal, based in Kennebunk, Maine, where she focuses on Estate Planning and Business Planning. With eight years of experience, Erin holds a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Design and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A resident of Kennebunk, Erin launched Treehouse Legal in 2022 with a mission to make legal assistance more accessible. She’s passionate about community outreach and education, with a friendly, down-to-earth approach that helps families feel empowered and supported as they put their affairs in order. CRICUT FOR BEGINNERS ~ ADULT CLASS

Cricut for Beginners Wednesday, May 22, 1 PM

This class lets adults improve their skills with Cricut guide Marina, who will teach the basics of crafting with a Cricut paper-cutting machine. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. If you have your own cutting machine and computer, you may bring them; if you do not own them, you are still welcome to attend. This class is for adults only.
