Thursday, December 5

10 AM – 4 PM, Prelude Pop-Up Photo Op

Create the perfect holiday moment and photo to remember Prelude 2024 with the Library decorated front door! Free and open December 5 – 15.

10 AM – 4 PM, Card Making Station for Community Gourmet Care Packages

Join us in the spirit of giving as we partner again this year with Community Gourmet to give care packages. Bring food items to put under our tree for local seniors. Add a cheery card you can make at our station, one to give and one to take home. *This event will run daily until 12/20.

3:15 PM – 4 PM, Cider, Cookies & Craft Time

5:30 PM–7 PM, Holiday Paint & Sip with Maine Artist Marguerite Genest

Marguerite will teach us how to paint a wine bag with a label, the perfect gift for anyone on your shopping list. Pre-registration is required 967-2778. All supplies and light refreshments will be provided.

Mrs. Claus and one of the elves will be our special guests at story time for holiday stories and songs.

9:30 AM – 1:30 PM, Treat Yourself! Book & Art Sale

The Book Cellar is well stocked with new and gently used books, puzzles, note cards, hats, CDs, and more. You are sure to find the perfect holiday gift for that swap, hostess, or lover of all things Kennebunkport—the 2-volume set of the History of Kennebunkport. A fantastic selection of art by local artists is also available.

 

Wednesday, December 11

3:15 PM – 5:30 PM, Cozy Family Movie!

Wear your jammies and snuggle in for a cozy time watching a movie with family and friends.

5:30 PM-7 PM, Celebrate Christmas Prelude with Maine Author Shannon Butler

To help us celebrate in the perfect literary fashion, Maine Author Shannon Butler will be here to sign copies of her book “All is Calm: a Maine Christmas Reader”. A collection featuring essays, stories, and poetry of Mainers during the holidays. Light refreshments.

5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, Sip & Shop in the Book Cellar

A unique opportunity to discover new books and authors as well as a relaxing way to peruse your favorite books while enjoying a delicious beverage. Come explore the Book Cellar and shop with friends. Light refreshments.

Join us for a special story time while we play instruments Mr. Eric will play his guitar and lead us in some great holiday songs. Mr. Eric is a local musician and fan favorite.

CARD MAKING STATION

Card Making Station December 5 – 20, 10-4:00

We want to invite people of all ages to attend our card-making program, where we will design cards to go with care packages from the Community Gourmet. This is a beautiful opportunity to show your support and positivity to those in need. During the program, you can design and personalize cards using various materials, such as markers, stickers, and stamps. These cards will be included in care packages distributed to seniors and individuals in our community. The Community Gourmet is a grass-roots effort to address food insecurity in Southern Maine.

POP UP BOOK SIGNING – JENNA BUSH HAGER AND BARBARA BUSH – DECEMBER 9 @ 10:00 AM

We hope you will join us on Saturday, December 9 @ 10:00 am for a very special event.  Twin sisters Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush will be here at the Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library, 18 Maine Street, Kennebunkport, Maine and home of the “Book Cellar” to sign copies of their new book  Love Comes First.

This newest book is a celebration of growing families. In the story, two sisters wish upon a star for a sibling. Not only does their wish come true, but they also get a new baby cousin. Although the wish doesn’t turn out exactly the way the sisters imagined, they soon learn that love conquers all.

This program is free and open to the public.  Copies of the book will be for sale and signing.   Pre-Registration is Required.  Please call (207) 967-2778 to be added to the list.    Parking available at the Village Fire Station (North Street) and Consolidated School (Route 9).

Jenna Bush Hager:

An American news personality, author, and journalist. She is the co-host of Today with Hoda & Jenna, the fourth hour of NBC’s morning news program Today.   After her father’s presidency, Hager became an author, an editor-at-large for Southern Living magazine, and a television personality on NBC, being featured most prominently as a member of The Today Show as a correspondent, contributor and co-host.

Barbara Pierce Bush:

An American activist. She is Vice President, Social Impact for the NBA and co-founded the nonprofit Global Health Corps, an organization that has mobilized more than one thousand young leaders to solve some of the world’s biggest global health challenges.

 

The fraternal twins are the daughters of the 43rd U.S. President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush. They are also the granddaughters of the 41st U.S. President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush, great-granddaughters of former U.S. Senator Prescott Bush, nieces of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and first cousins of former Land Commissioner of Texas, George P. Bush.
