WILLS/GUARDIANSHIPS – THE PROS AND CONS

In celebration of the Public Health Office turning 75 this year, we are teaming up with the nurses to offer monthly discussions on a variety of topics.  For this session, our guests will be Candice Simeoni (head of elder crimes); Kennebunkport Detective Cory Tardif; Michael Maloney, VP of Kennebunk Savings; and Bridget McMahon, an Attorney with Legal Services for the Elderly.  The very important topics of discussion will encompass the pros and cons of setting up your future wishes.

 

Officer Simeoni is an instructor at the Maine Criminal Justice  Academy teaching cadets Elder Crime Investigations and presents around the State of Maine on Older Adult Exploitation.
She has been a law enforcement officer since 2004 and has been featured in many media outlets about the work she is doing in support of our aging nation.

Michael Maloney is a Vice President at Kennebunk Savings Bank and member of the York County Elder Abuse Task Force.

Bridget McMahon, JD, is an attorney at Legal Services for the Elderly.

STOP THE SCAMMERS – CYBER SCAMMERS (TAKE 2!)

In celebration of the Public Health Office turning 75 this year, we are teaming up with the nurses to offer monthly discussions on a variety of topics.  For the February 23 session, Candice Simeoni (head of elder crimes) will be here in person to talk about the tips and tricks of cyber scammers (take 2!).  Please call to register for this event as space will be limited (per CoVid guidelines).  We will also offer a Zoom link for those who cannot physically make it to the Library.

Don’t get sucked into this dreadful web of deceit and tomfoolery that is serious business.

SENIOR EDUCATION SEMINAR

Join us for some coffee and conversation with Margy Gambell, RN CCM at Comfort Keepers.  Margy will  show us various ways we can assist our failing loved ones – in and out of chairs, around the house, getting out of bed, etc.  She will also discuss the various services Comfort Keepers has to offer to families in need of additional help.  No registration is required.  Light refreshments will be served.

SENIOR EDUCATION SEMINAR

Please join us on Thursday February 13 @ 9:00 am.   Guest speaker, Rev. Charlotte Bell, MDIV, MSW from the First Congregational Church, will be talking about “Caring for the Caregivers.”   “A Conversation on Understanding The Emotional Aspects of Caregiving”

Charlotte currently serves as the minister at the First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport.  Her journey to ordained ministry also included a broad career for 26 years as a Licensed Medical Social Worker.  Prior to attaining her MSW degree her clinical social work focused on gerontology.  She has been trained and certified to support Alzheimer’s patients, families, caregivers and staff.  Her experience draws from providing support and education in a variety of elder living settings and caring for a parent.  She looks forward to this engaging time together with all who are journeying as a caregiver.

SENIOR EDUCATION SEMINAR

Join us for some coffee and conversation with Cathy Fellenz and Susan Gesing of Kennebunkport.

They will conduct a community circle focused on racial justice.  The Portland-based Center for Restorative Justice has trained 18 local residents to hold community discussions in light of the recent incidents at RSU 21.  The conversation will center on this question:  How do we become a community that welcomes all?  Please call to register for this very important discussion.
